Professor Yang Kun from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China Came to Our College for Academic Exchange

At the invitation of the school, Professor Yang Kun from UESTC came to our school for academic exchange on the afternoon of July 27, 2021.  Prof. Kun Yang is National Distinguished Professor at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chairman Professor of The School of Computing Science and Electrical Engineering at the University of Essex, United Kingdom, member of the European Academy of Sciences and Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.  His main research interests include: wireless networks and communications, future Internet technologies, wireless data and energy integrated communication networks, and communication and computing convergence technologies.  He has published more than 400 papers in 9 international core journals and major conferences, and has authorized more than 20 international and domestic invention patents. He was selected as one of the "World's Top 2% Scientists" in 2020 published by Stanford University and cited by Google Academic for nearly 10,000 times.  Founding member and one of the six Executive Standing Committee members of IEEE InterCloud, Adjudicator of WMC GLOMO Award at Mobile World Congress, Associate Editor of several IEEE journals, DISTINGUISHED Speaker of IEEE Communications Society (2020-2021), and best Paper award of IEEE Mainstream Conference several times.  

 

 


Prof. Kun Yang's lecture was entitled "Energy Self-sustainability in future Wireless Networks". The lecture was presided over by Associate Professor CAI Yueping, and more than 10 young teachers and graduate students, including associate Professor Jian Xin and researcher Chen Chen, participated in the lecture and actively asked questions and discussed.  First of all, Associate Professor CAI Yueping presided over the report and extended a warm welcome to Professor Yang Kun.  Prof. Kun Yang first gave a brief introduction to the energy transfer technology of wireless induction charging, and shared his understanding of the development status of rf energy transfer based on his rich research experience over the years.  After that, Professor Kun Yang gave a comprehensive interpretation of the various solutions and existing problems of the trade-offs of wireless data and energy integrated transmission that his team is currently working on, such as rf energy transmission, information coding control and information modulation control.  Furthermore, Prof. Kun Yang introduced his team's work in related research and design, and presented his team's experimental results and latest research progress in wireless power supply communication system.  In addition, Professor Yang Kun also briefly prospected the design of digital simultaneous transmission signal based on WiFi, software radio and 5G.  At the end of the lecture, Professor Yang Kun had an extensive exchange with Associate Professor CAI Yueping and other teachers and students, and answered and discussed the details and limitations of the implementation of the system raised by the audience.  The exchange ended in a warm atmosphere of academic discussion.
