Institution of Science on Brain Inspired Intelligence Chongqing University is an important scientific research platform leading Chongqing's " National Experimental Zone of New Generation Intelligent Innovation and Development ". It is mainly engaged in strategic, forward-looking, and fundamental major scientific issues and key core technology research in this field, is an important platform for serving the Yangtze River Economic Belt, national strategy and economic and social development, and is the core force of independent innovation in the intelligent field of Chongqing.
The institution was established in July 2019 and is still under construction. The institute is headed by fellow Yang Shizhong. There are currently 110 full-time research teams, including 4 national-level talents such as Chang Jiang Scholars Program, National Ten Thousand Talents Program, and National Excellent Youth, more than 30 professors and researchers, and more than 400 doctoral and master students. The Institute has doctoral unit and mobile post-doctoral research station in information and communication engineering. It has successively won 7 national awards such as the National Science and Technology Progress Award and the National Invention Award, and 15 provincial and ministerial awards including the Wu Wenjun Award for Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology issued by Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, Undertake national-level projects such as the National 13th Five-Year Intelligent Research and Development Plan and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, etc. The Institute has long-term accumulation in the field of artificial intelligence basic theory research, and has published more than 200 high-quality journals such as IEEE TPAMI and TNNLS, as well as ICML. CVPR. AAAI and other artificial intelligence top conference papers.
The headquarter of the Institute is currently located in Xiyong Microelectronics Park, Chongqing, with 10,000 square meters of office space and 5,000 square meters in the first phase.
The current main research directions are pervasive intelligent computing methods (including machine learning, machine vision, brain-like computing, edge computing, remote sensing signal processing, etc.), Brain-like sensing chip systems (including intelligent hardware design, FPGA heterogeneous computing and chip design, very-large-scale-integrated circuits, embedded systems, etc.).
The main mission of the Institute is to aim at major scientific issues in the field of pervasive artificial intelligence and microelectronics, carry out innovative research in intelligent sensing devices and chips, brain-like computing models and systems, and focus on personnel training, talent introduction, internationalization and achievement transformation. It is also the mission of the institute to gather first-class talents at home and abroad, cultivate the ecological and cultural innovation of intelligent science, serve the Belt and Road Initiative, the Yangtze River Economic Belt, national strategy and the economic and social development of Chongqing, and improve the independent innovation ability, high-end talents reserve and industrial competitiveness in the field of microelectronics in Chongqing.
